Singleton Rites
Erasmus Jack Singleton 88, of Sperryville died Saturday, July I at his residence following a long illness. He was the son of the late James Singleton and Elizabeth Ryan, and a native of Harper’s Ferry, W. Va.
He is survived by his wife, the former Bessie Herndon; four sons, Harry Singleton of Gary, Ind., Rudolph Singleton of Fayetteville, N. C.. Lionel Singleton of Chicago, 111. and Jack Singleton, Jr. of Shenandoah; one daughter, Mrs. E. J. Clark of Sperryville; four grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Oscar Baker of Luray.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 4th from Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church, Sperryville, of which he wras a member, conducted by the Rev. H. E. Nicholson. Interment followed in the Sperryville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Rudolph G. Singleton, Jr., Harry Robert Singleton, Willie Singleton, James Ashby, Frank Brown, Gene Wood, Russell B. Herndon apd Clarence L. Jenkins. Geest Funeral Parlors were in charge of arrangements.
