Attends Convention
Mr. T. M. Johnston was the Rappahannock County delegate to the Virginia State Republican Convention held Saturday in Richmond at the John Marshall Hotel.
The Keynote address for the convention was delivered hy the Hon. William E. Miller, Republican National Chairman. The convention elected Mr. H. Clyde Pearson of Lee County as the Republican candidate for governor in the November election. Mr. Pearson, before his nomination, was the assistant U. S. Attorney for Western Virginia.
Mrs. Johnston and daughters, Kay and Carolyn accompanied Mr. Johnston to Richmond.
Student Loan Fund
The State Education Assistance Authority created by the 1960 legislature is now in business and the commercial banks of Virginia which participate with the Authority in its College Student Loan plan are in a position to discuss with students and prospective students loans for the academic year beginning in September. The fund for insuring loans provided by statute became available to the Authority on July 1 for the first time.
