Fatally Injured
Winston L. Alth;:r, 24 of Castleton, died Sunday afternoon at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, of injuries suffered earlier in the day in an auto mishap.
Alther was a passenger in a truck which ran into a ditch, knocking the door open and throwing him out. The rear wheel of the vehicle ran over his chest, causing fatal injuries.
The accident occurred at 7:3Q a.m. Sunday, July 30 on State Route 642 just south of Amissville. McKendriek Lee Blankenbaker also of Castleton was the driver of the 1949 two-ton Ford truck. The only charge placed against Blankenbaker was improper equipment. Trooper R. C. Greaver investigated the accident.
An accident involving only one vehicle occurred Monday morning on U. S. Route 211 about four miles west of Amissville at 7:15 a.m.
Elizabeth Carol Davis of Salem, Va. driving a 1955 Chevrolet ran off the highway and struck a concrete bridge. She received bruises on the forehead, abrasions of both arms and a cut leg. Also injured was John Mario Davis who had lacerations of the temple area and abrasions of his left knee.
Trooper G. T. Johnson investigated the accident.
