Pvt. Richard A. Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul F. Brown of Rt. 1, Sperryville, Va., has begun his basic combat training at Fort Jackson, S. C., where he has been assigned to Company C, 18th Battalion, 5th Training Regiment of the U. S. Army Training Center, Infantry.
During his basic training 'he will be introduced to a wide variety of infantry skills, along with intensive physical conditioning. He will attend classes in the traditions of the service, character guidance, and the role of the Army in the world today. Many of his intructors are combat veterans of World War II and the Korean conflict.
