Large Oak Tree
During the storm Monday evening, a large oak tree at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stanish Riley in Amissville was struck by lightning. The bolt cut the top from the tree, split the trunk and barked it all the way- down* h then jumped 1® the'»i> St Mrsv R»fcy?5 :ar, denting it and knocking off pairft before in ran into the ground beneath it. The gate posts in the Riley’s yard was smoked up and damaged slightly.
Mr. Riley, who was sitting on bis porch was struck on the foot by a flying chunk of bark.
Groundbreaking At A.missville Church Amissville Methodist Church oas made plans for a new Educational Building which will contain ;ix large class rooms and a full oasement that can be used as two more clSss rooms, and a fellowship hall. Thie plans were apjroved at a called Quarterly Conference last Monday at the :hurch.
