Planning to seed alfalfa next month? If so, remember to split the normal fertilizer application rate (for seeding) in half and come back with 300-400 lbs. of 0-25-25 between October 1st and 15th containing 30-40 lbs. 2*4% Heptachlor to protect it from Alfalfa weevil in 1963.
Lee Thornton, Mgr. Rappahannock Farmers Co-op, .advises that farmers can now get any analysis spread by truck at any rate desired with as much heptachlor as they like. For other details on alfalfa weevil control call the office for a copy of MS 105 by Jack Rowell, Extension Entomologist. All of the above rates are of a per acre basis and all should be borated fertilizers.

Do you still have lambs on your ewes? If so, suggest you wean them right away arid put on feed in a dry lot.
Purposes . . . ewes will get ready for breeding season quicker; lambs will not become so heavily infested with internal parasites, and will be ready for market sooner at higher grades.
Also you will have a more uniform and shorter lambing season next winter. 'Lambs should be in a dry lot (ii^sags) and have a cool barn, or shed tfvrun to. They ^vill do better on a mixed ration of ground hay and ground grain. Drench ewes . . put on clean pasture and turn Mr. Ram in two weeks later. Such management practices will all be in your favor income wise.
