Perhaps we are correct in not thinking too much about the great transition known as Death. On the other hand we need to think of this life as a time of preparation for the next world. TTie present life, can be compared with a “prelude to a magnificent musical composition;” or to the “dress^-rehearsal” on the night before the drama production is to be staged; or the “introduction” to a good book. We should do our very best in this world in order to be ready for the “big eternal world.”
Several years ago I was asked to assist a dear old lady make application for residency in the home for the aged. She was the oldest living member of the church I was serving and was loved and respected for beautiful life and faithfulness. Recently I visited her in the “Home’s infirmary.” She was very ill and I could remain for a very few minutes. Unable to speak above a whisper, she barely opened her eyes and with a slight *mile said, “I wish you would pray.” After I had made a brief prayer, and as I turned to leave the room, I heard a faint, “Good-bye.” The chapel organ could be heard as the organist played “I Am Bound for the Promised Land.” Having stepped into the corridor just outside the patient’s room, I glanced back. The -expression on the dear old lady’s face seemed to be saying, “Hallelujah.” "Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. Rev. 2:10D.
