Last Rites For

S. Brown Smith

A funeral service for Stockton Brown Smith of Viewton, Va., was held on Friday morning, July 27, at the graveside in the Old Smith family cemetery.

Mr. Smith was a highly esteemed citizen of the Vicwtown neighborhood. He , was 70 years of age. The Rev. John B. Hodge, pastor of the Forest Grove Baptist Church conducted the last rites.

His death occurred at the, McGuire Veterans Hospital, Richmond, Va., on Wednesday morning, July 25, 1962, after an illness of nearly a month. Being a World War I veteran, he served on the front lines in France where he was severely wounded.

He was a son of the late Peter Cumberland Smith and the late Sarah William Bruce of Viewtown.

Mr. Brown operated his farm at Viewtown where he was bom and reared. He held his membership with the Forest Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs.
