Farmers in Rappahannock County have signed up to divert 160 acres from wheat production under the 1965 voluntary wheat program, H. S, Barksdale, chairman of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation County Committee, reports. This acreage will be devoted to approved conservation uses. The signup amounts to 22 per cent of the 728 acres allotted to Rappahannock County for 1965 wheat plantings and Includes 31 of the county’s wheat farms. The wheat signup period ended October 2. Mr. Barksdale noted that growers who have signed to participate in the program will be permitted to change their intentions any time before the 1965 feed grain program signup ends which will probably be next March.
