Miss Helen Fuller, a weekend resident of Rappahannock (Long Mountain) was one of the reporters who was aboard the Democratic campaign train, The Lady Bird Special, as it sought the votes of southerners last week. Four years ago it was the good fortune of your editor to be aboard the Johnson Special, when it went through this section and stopped at Culpeper. Also aboard at that time was J. Rodes Brown of Sperryville and we were present when Johnson made the statement that later became a political classic, “What did Dick Nixon ever do for Culpeper?” This card from the campaign train seemed to bring on a case of nostalgia.
