Toys which invite investigation are important, too. A child’s playtools should permit him to imitate, build, exercise his skills and muscles, emotions, and imagination. They should give him an opportunity to appreciate colors and textures, sounds and dimension. Most important, according to Playskool Research-toys should be carefully chosen to suit the child's stage of development. A too-complex toy will irritate and frustrate. A pre-schooler does need new challenges, but he shouldn’t be given a toy which is so advanced and complicated for his age that it merely makes him “quit trying.” Leave your child alone to learn while he plays. If he should make a mistake in taking a toy apart and putting it back together again, let him find his own way and correct it. Remember, the greatest gift you can give your child is the ability to think for himself, to develop his skills, and to discover the world around him Guide him to learning by providing the play tools which will help him. Think about these things as you shop for Christmas toys.
