All members of the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors were present for the April meeting combined with the annual road hearing held Friday at the courthouse. Also in attendance were large groups of residents to file petitions and make requests for road improvements in the secondary system. Resident Engineer James Skeens presided during the road hearing portion of the meeting. Among petitions submitted were one for Route 651 in Sperryville, .6 miles from Route 211 to a dead end on which 16 dwellings are located; Route 666 near Chester Gap, .3 miles to dead end with 12 residences. Supervisor Foster commented on need for improvement and maintenance as well as Robert Wines, spokesman for the group making request; John A. Tapp and Mrs. Charles Larimer spoke for improvement of Route 637 near Amissville and submitted a petition for attention to five miles with 17 dwellings; a petition was submitted for work on Route 604 with Mrs. Gordon Thornhill speaking for residents of that area and Supervisor Wilbur concurring.
