Miss Joanne van Brederode of Washington, Va. has received her British Horse Society Assistant Instructor’s degree after completing a 13-week course at Porlock Vale Riding School in Porlock, Minehead, Somerset, England. The school, directed by Col. J. D. Crawford, is one of the major riding academies in the world. Miss van Brederode, accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Mary S. van Brederode, left for England on December 29 and returned to their home Blue Rock Farm, Washington, on April 5. She was a senior at Rappahannock County High School before enrolling in the riding school. She will complete her schooling and obtain her high school diploma through a correspondence course, since she will not be able to graduate with her former class.
