Opening day of trout season Saturday found avid fishermen on the North Fork of the Thornton River and Piney River, both near Sperryville. This scene was duplicated many times. The day was ideal for fishing and sportsmen came from near and far to try their luck with the 2,400 brook and rainbow trout which stocked the two streams.
