Games scheduled for the remainder of this week are tonight, Thursday, Amissville at Viewtown and on Sunday Viewtown and Charted Industries will play at Cl while Village and Amissville will meet on the latter’s diamond. What a difference a half makes! Amissville defeated Viewtown behind the hitting of Junior Pullen, Roger Boswell and Doug Barron and some fine fielding plays by Randy White and Tony Layman. Viewtown was held scoreless until the 6th inning.
Village nipped WTC 5-2 at Village. The game was a well-played one with Village staying close in the first half of the game on a questionable call at first and a mental lapse on WTC’s part. Village scored their first run on a hit by John Homes after the previous batter was called safe on first base. The second run scored after two were out in the next inning when a single was turned into a double when the play at second missed enabling the tying run to score. But Village was not to be denied this victory. Village Scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a three run lead with the big hit being provided once again by John Holmes who lined a double off of the foul pole in left. All in all, it was a good game to watch.
All other action was rained out. The games will be made up at a later date.
Shiloh Association Semi-Annual Session
The first session of the 176th semiannual Shiloh Baptist Association will be held at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, Boston, on Wednesday, August 5 beginning at 10:00 a.m. and closing at 2:40 p.m. The Rev. John H. McKay, pastor, will deliver the message. Lunch will be served by the hostess church.
The second session of the Association will be at Gourd Vine Baptist Church on October 31.
