Set of Values

All of us are very conscious of values in the age in which we are living. We can apply values to many phases of life. Do we think af it in terms of what it is worth to us personally or what it is worth to society at large? I want to relate value to the :hlld and his growth and development. First, how does society value a child? How Is this iralue determined? The answer is directly related to the parent and the environment under which his :hild grows up. The parent sets the stage and the child enacts the play. Consider the child from the time he is bom until he becomes }f school age. When he is in the cradle, he cries to be rocked. Here, he has learned the values of trying. As he grows older, he cries for other things. The parent resorts to anything to stop him ■rom crying. This is the beginning jf delinquency. How many parents recognize this as such? The child now adds or strengthens his sense of values by semper tantrums or being stubborn. He has learned that he ran achieve by each of these ittitudes.
