Donna Slack, the 16-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl S. Slack of Baltimore, Md., received the award for the best appearing majorette at the Flint Hill carnival parade last Thursday and recently placed first also in the Sperryville parade. She is the niece of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Clark of Washington.
Donna has been twirling batons (or seven years, traveling into many states for contests. She has received over 550 awards for individual performancws and numerous group awards. In addition to batons, she twirls hoops, flags and a semoa knife. She has been twirling with the Skylans Drum and Baton Corps of Towson, Md. for five years, is a member of the N.B.T.A. and presently is captain of the senior War Eagles of the Skylark Corps.
Donna is a senior at Kentwood High School where she is an honor student and a member of the varsity cheer leading squad. She is teaching baton and working to become N.B.T.A. judge and teacher.
Thursday over-night guest of Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Clatterbuck was their nephew Clinton Foreback of Hamilton. Mr. and Mrs. Grady Vest and children Allen, Renee and Christal returned home Friday from a week’s vacation at Kitty Hawk, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Galley Smith and family of Virginia Beach were overnight guests Thursday of Mrs. G. W. Smith, Jr. and were visitors in the home of Mr. and Mrs. James M. Vest. Mr. and Mrs. JairfesM. Vdfct and Mrs. Vest’s brother and sister-in-law Sgt. and Mrs. John M. Dodson were dinner guests Saturday of last week in Washington, D. C. Sgt. and Mrs. Dodson left Thursday to return to Houston, Texas after visiting Mr. and John S. Dodson in Sperryville.
J. P. Dodson is visiting relatives this week in Arlington.
