Williamsburg Baptist Church was the setting October 3, 1970, for the marriage of Miss Mary Elizabeth Duke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard S. Duke of Charles City, to Earl K. Edmonds, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl K. Edmonds of Huntly, and the late Mr. Edmonds.
The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Thomas E. Pugh.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a full length gown of ivory satin with long, slim Kabu sleeves and a detachable train. The gown and train were trimmed with embroidered Venice lace and pearls. Her chapel length veil of antique ivory was held in place with a cluster of silk lace leaves outlined in pearls. She carried a crescent bouquet of white carnations and pompons.
Miss Sallie G. Shipp of Dayton, Ohio was maid of honor. She wore a full length gown with a gold silk worsted bodice, long silk chiffon sleeves and a full chiffon skirt over gold silk worsted. Her headpiece was of lace flowers with a circular veil. She carried bronze chrysanthemums.
The bridesmaids were Miss Martha J. Duke and Miss Penny R, Duke of Charles City, sisters of the bride, and Miss Theresa H. Schmid of Richmond. They wore identical dresses and veils in blue.
Pamela Lampkin of Providence Forge and Kelly Edmonds of Front Royal were flower girls. Stanley John Hula IV of Charles City was ringbearer.
Jacob Edward Keyser, Jr. of Williamsburg, uncle of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Edward Lynn Menefee of Fairfax, Robert M. Menefee, Jr., of Alexandria and Ronald T. Edmonds of Front Royal.
Mrs. Edmonds was graduated
Mrs. John Duke of Amelia.
Serving the wedding cake were Mrs. Fred Schaefer, Sperryville, and Mrs. Roger Tanner, an aunt of the bride, of Charlottesville.
Mrs. George H. Davis, Jr. was mistress of ceremonies.
After a southern wedding trip the couple will reside in Richmond.
Pre-nuptial Parties
Among entertainments given for the bride-to-be were a miscellaneous bridge shower, given by Mrs. Mary Edna Schaefei of Sperryville; a luncheon showei > by Mrs. Ned Jones and MifituSegw Jones of Washington; a rehearsal party hosted by the groom’s , parents, and Mr. and Mrs. Harry I Willoughby.
