Check 9 Gobblers
In Rappahannock
The Spring Turkey season which ended last Saturday showed 9 turkeys checked in Rappahannock County. Checking gobblers at Flint Hill were Charles Foster and Bill Welch of Flint Hill and H. C. LeHew and Silas “Buck” Foster, both from Front Royal. In the Amissville area checking turkeys at Jenkins Esso were John Silvey and Robert Hitt from Amissville, Harry Haun from Rixeyville, Riley Watts of Fairfax and Steve Horseman from Springfield. While hunter interest fell off somewhat during the extended week, the gobblers interest for hens was apparently as good if not better than during the early part of the season.
