The 1971 Junior-Senior Prom turned out to be a wonderful success. The decorations truly reflected the time that had been put into them.
The theme was “Parisian Holiday,’’ and the gym was decorated like a sidewalk cafe. In the center was an impressive red and white Eiffel Tower. Concealing the bleachers entirely was a mural of the “Arc de Triumph” Blue streamers formed a roof over the gym and during the course of the prom hundreds of baloons were released from the ceiling and cascaded to the floor. Pictures were taken by a water fountain and roses in the corner of the gym. The tables were decorated like cafe tables with red tablecloths and bottled candles. The band was the “Sheepherders” who played many songs by Chicago and the Beatles. Everyone present will surely remember this night! Monday, two of Mr. Gray’s pet projects, the National Honor Society and the Guitar Club entertained the students during the assembly for the induction of new members of the Honor Society. Starting it off Bradford Beebe gave a selection of country and western music, Carolyn Glascock with an original song, and Gary Wayland with the song by James Taylor, “Fire and Rain.”
