Pee Wee Team Wins

Opener With Mar'll

The Amissville PeeWee Baseball Club (12-13 year-old boys) sponsored by the Amissville Ruritan Gub, opened the season Saturday, May 15 in Marshall and defeated that team 21-1. Amissville pitcher Mike Smoot led the attack by hitting a home run and two doubles and in addition struck out eleven men. Wilbur Glascock made a homer plus two doubles, driving in six runs. Cecil Smoot connected for a home run, a double and a single. This is the second season for these boys and Robert B. Settle, 'manager of the group, said that he feels the youngsters will have a good year using the experience gained from last season.

The Amissville Midget Baseball Club (8-11) was organized this year for the first time and is managed by Stanley Settle. They dropped the first game to Marshall 17-12 but played a good game considering their experience.

Saturday, May 22, both teams play at home with The Plains as their opponent. Midgets game is at 2 p.m. and PeeWees at 4:30 p.m.
