Culpeper Conservation District has set its sights on top honors in the 25th annual Goodyear Soil Conservation Awards Program, according to Mr. H. L. Manwaring, District Representative, Woodville, Virginia. The district will match its 1971 accomplishments with other districts in the state in the competition sponsored by The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in cooperation with The National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD). An independent judging committee of conservation leaders will select the first and second-place districts in the state. Each first-place district wins expense-paid, vacation-study trips for its outstanding landownercooperator and a member of the governing board. Representatives from 53 winning conservation districts nationwide will be guests at the 10,000-acre Goodyear Farms and The Wigwam, resort hotel, Litchfield Park, Ariz. The awards also include recognition of the outstanding cooperator who will be chosen from the 600 landowners enrolled in the local district’s program. Culpeper district has participated in the awards program 30 times and was the state’s second place district in 1971.
