A total of 102 deer have been killed and checked in Rappahannock County through the first two weeks of the season. Bradford’s Store serving the Flint Hill area has checked the greatest number with 32. Also checked at Bradford’s was a 190 pound bear taken by Silas Foster and a turkey bagged by Doug Calhoun of Riverton. The checking stations at Chester Gap and Amissville have shown a marked increase in deer checked this year. Williams’ Grocery at Chester Gap has checked 16 deer and 1 bear a 430 pounder reported earlier.
