The Virginia Legislature, this year, canfollowthe lead of a highly successful and popular law in Oregon. Senate Bill No. 30 (Senator A. Joe Canada, Va. Beach, 23450) would require that every beer and soft drink container have a return value and require that dealers accept and return them to the wholesalers and bottlers. This legislation would have the people causing the problem pay the cost themselves. Senator George S. Aldhizer (Broadway, Va. 22815) and Delegate D. French Slaughter (Culpeper, Va. 22701) would appreciate your opinion. Committee hearing on SB No. 30 is February 15 in Richmond.
