Budget hearing
A PROPOSED COUNTY budget totaling $1,328,061.72 will be acted upon next Thursday by the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors at the June meeting. The budget is for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 1974. The budget hearing is open to the public and will precede the regular monthly meeting of the legislators. The proposed budget is an increase over last year by $106,428.93. As always, schools require the greatest portion of the tax dollars, and though the proposed school budget has already been trimmed, there is still an increase of $69,467. The carry-over, or surplus, showing a decrease, will still aid in keeping the levy at the $4.10 mark. Funds from the sale of county tags showed a great increase in the proposed budget, however, board chairman E. P. Luke, said there is not any increase in the cost of tags anticipated.
The budget hearing is set for Thursday, June 6 at 10 a.m. in the courthouse at Washington.□
