IN PROVERBS 30:18-19 we find these words: “There are three things that are too wonderful for me, Yea, four things that I know not, the way of an eagle in its flight; the way of a serpent on a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea and the way of a man with a maid.
The way of an eagle. It is said that an eagle can see a field mouse from a mile away. As it flies to and fro it might seem that it is erratic, but 01’ Brer Eagle is seeking its prey.
The way of a serpent. It has seemed to me that a snake just tumbles off a rock on the fartherest side from whatever disturbed it. It probably had already planned it’s escape route; nature’s way.
The way of a ship. To a landlubber a ship might seem on an erratic course, but the sailors know how to tack to take full advantage of the wind; sail ships.
NOW WE COME to the meaty part—the way of a man with a maid. Let’s turn that aroundandsay “the way of a woman with a man.” First, let me warn you; she is likely to “leave you with arms full of empty.” Ha! Wonder why women don’t change the marriage vows again? Instead of “Do you take this man” etc. to do you take him? (Funning.) In fancy the wind is sighing
Through the ruffled hedgerows again,
And the wraith of my youth is crying
To me from the love-haunted lane.
Someone has said that a puppy doesn’t realize that it is only puppy love that causes those pangs. Maybe the love of the puppy is just as acute as the love of the older dog, but the old dog cannot learn new tricks; such as forgetting.
No, the heart does not break,
