Miss Geraldine Bea Settle of Sperryville became the bride of Francis Lewis Payne of Boston on Saturday, September 28. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Larry Sheppard of Sperryville and Bunny Settle of Front Royal. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Payne of Boston are the bridegroom’s parents.
The marriage was performed by the Rev. Malcolm Maples in the evening in the Sperryville United Methodist Church. Karl Burke of Washington, Va. was organist. The bride was given in marriage by her step-father; Larry Sheppard. Her formal gown of white satin back crepe was fashioned on Empire lines with a neckline and bouffant sleeves. Chantilly lace accented the gown and trimmed the chapel length mantilla which she wore.
Miss Peggy Settle was maid of honor for her sister. Her floor length gown was of cotton organza in a petite rose pattern. It was designed with a square neckline, puffed sleeves and a ruffled hemline. Bridesmaids were Miss Patsy Vest of Woodville and Miss Patsy Payne of Boston, a sister of the bridegroom. Their gowns were identical to the honor attendant’s, in alternating shades of blue. Ashley Palmer was flower girl.
Best man was Wayne Payne of Flint HH1, brother of the bridegroom and ushers were Greg Settle of Castleton and Michael Anderson of Woodville. A reception followed in the church social hall with Mrs. Rodney Vest and Mrs. Yancey serving refreshments.
The bride’s mother wore a long gown of navy trimmed in white and Mrs. Payne chose a formal pink gown with a high neckline.
