Mrs. Green died September 27, 1974 at Skyland Terrace Nursing Home in Woodstock. She was 82.

Born in Rappahannock County, she was the daughter of the late John T. Hitt and Sophia Settle Hitt. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Virgie Bywaters and Mrs. Margaret Stover of Amissville; ten grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Booten Priest of Amissville and Mrs. Claude Green of Warrenton; a brother, Milton G. Hitt of Amissville.

She is a member of the Forest Grove Baptist Church at Viewtown.

Pallbears were Graham Hackley, Elmer Hitt, Marvin Green, Charlie Priest, Richard Latham, Roger Rutherford, John Oliver, and Charlie Compton.
