There was a time when the mountain people maintained a protective network for the good of the entire community. Maybe it’s time for us to revive that safeguard. No one wants a latter day gang of vigilantes taking it upon themselves to act as the law, but we do want an aware citizenry alert to evidence of wrongdoing and quick to support our law enforcement officers in putting a stop to something which threatens to get out of hand.D
