Cost-sharing for lime and fertilizer needed to establish or improve permanent grass cover in solving erosion problems is offered under the Agricultural Conservation Program (ACP) administered by the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS).
Farmers who sign-up for a practice involving the application of lime and fertilizer are required to provide the ASCS office with the results of a current soil test. In the ACP program, soil tests must be made by an approved laboratory which gives fertilizer and lime recommendations.
Now would be a good time to take soil samples. Soil testing labs may be overloaded next spring and this could cause the loss of valuable time in getting the required test results.
