The Rappahannock Polo Club defeated Casanova-Cedar Run in Friday night’s final match of the Eastern Circuit Sherman Memorial Tournament. It was Rappahannock’s first win of a USPA-sanctioned tournament.
Rappahannock jumped out to a 3 to 0 lead early in the first period but by halftime was down by one goal. Rappahannock stayed behind until late in the final period when the team staged a rally behind Tony Coppola’s four scores and came back to defeat CasanovaCedar Run, 10 to 9.
High scorers for Rappahannock were Tony Coppola with six goals, Bill Fannon with two and George Greenhalgh with two. For Casanova-Cedar Run, Arthur Ramos scored four goals, John Gulick scored three and Jack Eicher scored two.
