SPEAKING at a luncheon meeting of the Fauquier County Republican Women’s Club, Robinson commented:
“It is not for me to take an oath today that all members of our party are pure. I do think it fair and proper and necessary, however, to point out that the opportunities for misuses of public funds within the Congress have been enhanced by procudures placed into effect by the Democratic majority—and that these procedures have been opposed unsuccessfully by the majority of Republicans serving in Congress.”
Robinson explained that he was referring particularly to a system, which he had joined in seeking to overturn, whereby various allowances for House members could be adjusted by the House Administration Committee, headed by Rep. Wayne Hays (D) of Ohio, without their being voted on by the House as a whole.
