Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Burke entertained with a cookout Friday evening, their guests being, Mr. and Mrs. James Foster and Kay and Mr and Mrs. James Settle, all of Flint Hill; and Mrs. Bernice Lee and son, John, of Washington. Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Burke visited his brother and wife, the William Burkes in Winchester. Mrs. Robert Rutherford returned to her work Monday following several weeks’ illness.
Raymond Mahoney is home from Warren Memorial Hospital and is reported improving. Those calling on him Saturday included Mrs. Virginia Wines and Janet and A1 Banchek, all of Bethesda,, Md.
Miss Penny Chadwell entertained with a slumber party Saturday night. Her guests were Dawn Keithly of Washington, Karan and Samantha Murray of Castleton. Mr. and Mrs. Philip L. Smith entertained with a pig barbecue Sunday evening at their home, Persimmon Hill. There were approximately 90 guests, some coming from Arlington, Clifton, Woodstock, Strasburg, Fort Valley and Front Royal, as well as locally. Mr. Smith was assisted by Dick Shoot of Strasburg who earlier made the large grille for use in cooking the animal, and Don Harris and Jim Stouffer, both of Clifton, who assisted in the cooking from 6:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. The
