Police Briefs Valuable coin Kimberly Ann Elkins was arrested and charged on Feb. 25 with two felonies for allegedly stealing a valuable antique coin, according to a report at the Rappahannock County Sheriffs Office. The 48-year-old Staunton woman was charged with obtaining by false pretense an item valued at $200 or more and fraudulently embezzling US. currency valued at $200 or more. The item in question is an old half-cent coin that belongs to an elderly Sperryville woman for whom Elkin* is a caretaker. Sheriff Connie Smith said the exact value of the coin has not been determined, but it is estimated to he worth thousands of dollars. Visitor arrested Amber Dumey went to visit an inmate at the Rappahannock County Jail on Feb. 27 and ended up getting arrested. Ail visitors at the jail are required to show identification, so the jailers can make sure the person is not wanted for any crimes. According to a report at the RCSO, the 18-year-old Dumev had been charged with counterfeiting in Culpeper County and was wanted by the Culpeper Sheriffs Office. DUI Randy Frazier was arrested around 8 50 p m. Sunday for driv ing under the influence and driving while his license wns suspend ea.
