Public school nurse
sends message to parents

The following message to parents is from Rappahannock County public school nurse Linda Torrance:
All rising sixth grade students must show proof of a current DTap vaccine prior to the first day of the school year. ,
All kindergarten students must have a current, (done within the year 2008) physical form completed by their physician. Pre school physicals are not accepted. All immunizations must be complete and up to date.
We must also have a birth certificate and a social security number for each child entering kinder^ garten.
All of these items must be turned in for the student to start school on the first day of classes.
If your child is a new student coming from another county in Virginia please make sure that all of the above information for your child is turned in to the main office of the school that your child will be attending.
If you are enrolling from another state, please have a current Virginia state physical done for your child.
The immunization requirements may be different in Virginia so please contact your doctor to make sure your child has the necessary vaccines to start school.
You may contact the Rappahannock County Health Department at 540-675-3518 to make an appointment to obtain immunizations or a physical that your child may need.
Mrs. Torrance will be available at the RCES clinic on Meet-The-Teacher Day Thursday, Aug. 21, from 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. to accept medications and to go over any questions or concerns that parents may have regarding the above information.
