deli going,” Albrecht said, and the first few days proved the point. “We opened this weekend to try to help out some folks with parties - and, boy, as soon as we turned the lights on. we couldn’t turn them off."

Quite a few mothers have come in, she said, “and the kids seem happy - we have some jars of 2-cent, 5-cent, 10- and 25-cent candies out for them.”

“We want to be here for the community,” said Albrecht. “Were not trying to compete with Mayhugh’s or Quicke Mart It’s not a grocery store, and we’re not open on Sundays.”

The store will be open Monday through Thursday. 10 a m. to 6 p.m.. and Friday and Saturday, 10 a m. to 7 p m

Albrecht added: “We're trying to talk Mrs. Hackley (who is 84, and lives next door] into coming over and sitting in the chair, because everybody gets so excited when she’s there.”
