Rappahannock County youth and adult volunteers recently completed a week of camp at the Culpeper-Shenandoah-Rappahannock 4-H camp at the Front Royal 4-H Education and Conference Center.
Campers had a full week (Aug. 2-6) of morning workshops which included tie-dye, horse, air nfle, archery, outdoor sports, swimming, outdoor cooking, outdoor leadership skills, newspaper, video production, ropes course, CPR, woodworking, crafts and performing arts.
There was afternoon swimming and rec time, and evening programs, which included a talent show7, a pool party, a carnival and, of course, a camp dance.
Carly Day was one of two Great Bears at this year’s camp. As a Great Bear, Carly led the campfires every evening, preparing a daily skit with her co-Great Bear, and acted as a mentor and role model to all other ckmpers and teen counj selors. She was outstanding.
Rappahannock County had close to 70 persons attending - campers, counselors and adult volunteers combined. There were many tears when campers and counselors left camp but the good news is that these 4-H campers, counselors and anyone between the ages of 5-18 can get involved with 4-H throughout the year.
