Morris, is a dignified brick manor house built by Thomas Settle in 1856, but the original stone and log house on the property, now the wine cellar, dates from the 18th century.
Sited for a lovely view of the mountains to the w'est and the valley behind, the home has been modified over the years, surviving passing Union troops and fire. The house has undergone additions and improvements, some that lasted and some that didn't.
A well-planned and executed renovation in 2003-2004 has made Locust Grove a picture perfect representation of 19th century architecture, coupled with 21st century engineering and materials.
Outside, new stone walls show off the tennis courts, swimming pool and other dependencies, and inside, a classic Federal style center hall welcomes you to a formal parlor and morning room as well as a gracious stairway to four upstairs bedrooms in the main wing. Designed for gracious entertaining, Locust Grove waits serenely for visitors to discover her many charms. Heritage House B&B
