the nation, a library report from our school would be in order, At the close of last session there &ere 4800 (books in the library; this session we have added 140 more—-44 of these having been donated. The primary grades are enjoying such as Etz: “Little Old Automobile’’ and Brown: “Pony Farm”; the elementary grades seem to prefer Cormer: “Eagle in the Wind’* and Storm r» * “Faraway Tree”; the high school pupils are signed up ahead for Holt: ‘‘•Wild Palomino” and Warfild: “Cotton in My Ears.” Our librarian wonders what is wrong with OiC book called “The Mudhen”,■ for, in spite of its attractive jacket, no one has read it to date. And another thing that puzzles the librarian is why a certain sophomore Tgirl is still reading Wagenknecht: “The Fireside. Book of Romance.” .

On Armistice Day Miss Anne 7 Brown, representing the Ladies-’ Auxiliary to 'Rappahannock PosU>
No. 11150, Veterans of Foreign Wars, presented Sperryville High ’ School a beautiful American flag, mounted on a stand. Ip, the course of her remarks, Miss Brown asked that the flag serve as a memorial to those from the school and community who had served in the two great world wars and expressed the hope that the emblem would also prove an inspiration to the boys and girls now in school and to those who would follow. '
Mr. Winfrey accepted the gift for the school and reminded the audience that over 140 former Sperryville students had served in the last conflict. The school accepted the gift with gratitude and joined with the donors in the hope that coming generations of Sperryville children would always remember with pride and thankfulness the sacrifice of those who had so valiantly . defended our freedom and our way of life.
