, ' The Virginia State Orchestra Guild, through its director, has chosen Rappahannock county over other contenders to be the summer music center anfi summer borne of the state organization.
The scenery of the eounty, its natural setting for a music center, nearness to Washington, D. C., and the reception given by the people to the director, William Haaker, and Mrs. Haaker, were >•' factors leading to the decision. . I This decision is based on the assumption that music lovers and civic-minded citizens of the county will give definite assurance immediately that a very modest amount of money will be provided through contributions and memberships to pay the expenses of v bringing to Rappahannock firstclass musicians to offer at least three quality concerts during the summer. The minimum required is said to be $600, the maximum $1500. This money is to be handled by a local treasurer and Rappahannock people are to have a voice in deciding the kind of ;‘i concerts to be given. The more membership tickets that can be •old, the better the concerts that can be provided.
AH overhead expenses, including professional direction of concerto and teaching of music will be covered by the state organisation.
