The public health department, like public education, is for instruction. The health nurse help# in the detection of injuries, such as crippled children, and she investigates cases and helps get aid. She is not a nurse in the sense of caring for the sick. She is a public officer, primarily for instruction of the public. She may also sist in teaching people how to care for the sick in their homes, but she may not do the nursing. She also may assist in seeing) that quarantine is kept when necessary.

Emphasis is placed in assuring the public that the county health nurse is not for the medically indigent; she is in the county for instruction and aid toward good health for everyone, just as the public schools are for all children.

The four state restaurant in-* spectors who were in the county Tuesday inspected all the restaurants and issued permits for the coming year. Following this inpection, thpey will turn their records over to the local sanitation officer.

With Rappahannock’s heqlth office set up, there remain eight other counties in the state which have appropriations but are awaiting personnel, and 10 countie# with no health units. This means 82 counties have health departments. Many cities have separate health departments not with the counties, such as, Winchester and Fredericksburg.
