County Health Office
Opened Work January 2
The county health office opened Tuesday morning, January 2, in its quarters at Washington, in the old Moffett law building, on tha Courthouse grounds.
Mrs. Frances Thornton, county health nurse, and Mrs. Ruth A. Aylor, clerk, were on • hand) to greet Dr. W. R. Johnson, health officer for Prince William, Fauquier, and Rappahannock counties, and other guests, including four state restaurant inspectors, Missl 'Gladys Girfcon, district nursing supervisor, and Miss Rice, instrucing Mrs. Aylor in setting up tha records of the office.
The building, freshly painted, consists of two rooms.
The county health office will be open Monday through Friday, 8:15 to 5 o’clock. There are no office hours on Saturday. The telephone number is Washington2631.
The opening work of the health office will be the job of bringing up to date and filing of records from a former health department, from records, 1942-1945, and fil-* ing records referred to this county from other‘health departments.
When asked what was the best and quickest help that the citisena of the county could giro their new health department,' Mrs. Thornton stated that it would be in furnishing transportation of patients to clinics and taking them for x-rays when mobile units are in the county, and whenever such trips are needed between times.
The county’s sanitation officer will arrive February 1, and will possibly make his home in Rappahannock. He will be sanitation officer for two counties, Rappahannock and Fauquier. His duties^ will include inspection of restaurants, water supplies, and sewerage disposal, and in a few cases.
