The Rappahannock Chapter of the American Red Cross will begin its annual campaign for funds today, March 1. „ Since the stare of the Korean War, he service rendered by the Red Cross has been increased at a rate that is taxing its resources and personnel. The public is again reminded that the appeal for funds is made only once each year, and is asked for a generous response at this time. The great I majority of Red Cross workers find pleasure in giving time and ' effort to the cause of humanity. Remember, you are giving moral support to them, and help to some needy or distressed person by cheerfully contributing as much as you are able to the organization.
We have been instructed by an official from Red Cross National Headquarters to inform the public that nothing is being sold to soldiers in Korea, and all the Red Cross is doing for them is without cost. This is to correct erroneous reports that get out from time . to time, and the public is entitled to know how funds contributed ingood faith are being spent.
The Red Cross Is the only organizatkm of its kind that is abbs , to give emergency aid on such a - large scale in any part of the world it operates. Very few places in the world of today are unacquainted with the Red Cross and its nmork. -
In our own Rappahannock County Chapter we have an organization that is ready and able to give emergency assistance in case of need or distress, and we know of no better way to help comfort your fellow man than by contributing your funds, and Just as important, give it your moral support.

' Garden Club Lecturer :
Urge* Wildlife Care
Rappahannock Garden Club discussed plans for the garden tour in Rappahannock this spring at the meeting held yesterday afternoon, February 28, at Sperryville SchooL *
Additional plans were made to have Mrs. Ruth Kinses present to give a lecture May 1 to the garden club on flower arrangement.
The speaker of the February meeting was A.- Lawrence Dean of VPI, who gave a most interesting talk on birds, illustrating JiisL lecture with charts and with records of bird calls. The speaker stressed conservation of birds and all wildlife.
Winners in the fruit arrangement for the meeting were Mrs. S. E. Hening, first; Mrs. L. J. Turner, second; and Mrs. E. M. Jones, third.

After the church Directory for Rappahannock was printed, information came that one church had been omitted: Five Forks Regular Baptist Church near Woodville, Rev. Russell Thompson, minister, services fourth Sunday at 11 a.m.
