Charles 'Edward Huff

Charles Edward Huff, 78, died

at his home in Washington early Wednesday morning, February 28, after an illness of three weeks.

Services will be held at the Baptist church, Washington, at 2:30 o’clock this afternoon, March 1. Interment will be in the Masonic cemetery. The services will be .conducted by Rev. M. E. Sliger and ReV.| Norman J. Flythe.

Surviving are two sons, Lee Huff of New Market, and Milton Huff of Washington, and bne daughter, Mrs. L. H. Jenkins, with whom Mr. Huff made his home. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. . Pallbearers will be Willie and Luther Payne, Stant Weaver, Jimmie Leonard, Golden Jenkins, and Ashby Wayland. Among the honorary pallbearers will be T. G» Lea, Floyd Compton, Carroll Racer, Jr., Mahlon Ramey, Charles E. ' Burke, Frank Smith, C. O. Oden, Ollie Fincham, and Ray Fin. chain.

A Striking 'Dream

Last night I had a shocking dream

That filled me with dismay: Our fighting men had gone on

strike, • Demanding higher pay.

They wanted overtime, it seemed,

For dying in the mud, And shorter working hours for

The shedding of their blood.“How

dare they strike!” the home

front screamed,

“When we gave up so much, Like candy bars and~pleasure cars

and cigarettes and such!”

The foe broke through the picket

line

And left a trail of graves, And overnight our people all Were changed to fettered slaves.

I woke to find our boys still fought

And that the end seemed near, They weren’t striking over there—

The strike was OVER HERE!
