Kilby-—Sollenberger
The marriage of Janet, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles William Sollenberger, to Dr. Walter LeRoy Kilby, was solemnized v in the Evangelical Reform church at .Woodstock, Virginia, on tire afternoon of May 26. Rev. E. A. Lautenschlager was the officiating minister. The altar was banked with palms and ferns among which were vases' of white flowered and cathedral candles.
MaJ. Guy Benchoff presided at the organ. Preceding the entrance of the bridal party Mrs. Jean Morland sang “I Love You” and “Because”. At the close of the ceremony as the bridal pair knelt on a white satin pillow she sang “The Lord’s Prayer”.
The bride’s gown was an imjported white lace robe over white slipper satin with high neckline and long pointed sleeves. Her veil was of* fingertip length. She carried a bouquet of white roses and lilies of the valley.
The bride entered the church on the arm of her father,rwho gave her in marriage. *
Miss Betty Jean Nixon of Winchester, maid of honor, wore a gown of green lace over satin. &he carried a bouquet of yellow roses with hearpiece of roses to match.
The flower girls Jeanie and Connie Sollenberger, nieces of the bride, wore yellow organdy dresses, carrying nosegays of yellow roses with headpiece to match.
The small ring-bearer, - Lewis Sollenberger, nephew of the bride, carried the ring on a satin pillow.
Lucio Kilby, brother of the groom, was best man. The ushers were Irvin Kilby of Rappahannock and Lewis Tyus of Richmond.
A reception at the home of the bride’s parents followed immediately. *
The bride is' a graduate af Madison College, having taken 'courses at •LottgWood College and Duke University. She was a member of Mu Omega Sorority at Xongwood.
Dr. Kilby is a son of Mrs. W. B. Kilby and the late Mr. Kilby of Rappahannock. He received the degrees of B.S. and M.D. at the University of Virginia.
He was a member of the Phi Delta appa and Phi Chi and the medical fraternities A.O.A. and Iota Sigma. Also serving as President of the Medical School. In World War II Dr. Kilby received a commission as Major, serving in hospitals on Figi Islands and India. Discharged in 1945 with the rank of Lieut-Col. he returned to the University of Maryland and is now director of X-Ray Department and Professor of Roentgenology in the hospital and medical school.
