With living costs higher and higher by the day, and taxes getting ready to follow the cow over the moon, a fellow in a clothing store the other day was trying to find his answer.

A clothing store proprietor in a neighboring town tells of an old man coming into the store to buy a suit. The prices were too high to agree with his pocketbook—or his good sense. Finally, he tried to strike a bargain with the proprietor:

“I’ll pay double the price you have on that suit if you’ll guarantee it’ll last twice as long as this suit I’m wearing,-’ was his side of the bargain offered.

“How long have you had that suit?” questioned the proprietor.

“Sixteen years,” came the reply- plyNow,

there is sound reasoning. If we could have some guarantee that the food would do twice the regular amount of feeding, clothes would wear twice as long, and cars would give twice as much service, we would see some sense in paying twice as much cost and taxes. —Not that it does a bit of good to try to get some sense out of the high costs: you’ve got to buy necessities, anyway, and it’s the lucky man who can come out somewhere near even.

It is just such a thing as that which leads to the thought that some day we may be denied tne privilege of writing because of the abuse of it.
