Fires Cut Down
One-third of Last Year
Chief Forest Warden Raymond M. Johnson of Rappahannock county reports that so far this year three forest fires have burned 38 acres. Last year in the county, nine fires burned 245 acres during the same period of time.
Rappahannock’s spring forest - fire season ended officially the middle of this month, the Virginia Forest Service reported. The 4 p.m. brush-burning law ended May 15, and thatusually terminates the forest lire season in Virginia except in instances of extremely dry and windy weather during the latter part of May or early June.
