Legal Interpretation re: Exemptions of Printed Matter, Office of Price Stabilization: The. sale of newspapers, jbooks and periodicals is exempt from price control, as is also the sale of printed matter whose value depends on the ideas or information it contains. “In granting these exceptions, OPS pointed out that the printing industry is characterized by a large number of small firms which compete keenly among themselves. Therefore, these ex* ceptions are not expected to [result in any inflationary price increases."
