'easier way to :have delicious meals now and then than to have a small - flock of geese,-especially if you've a patch of clover or alfalfa * around the house. They'll graze like sheep, act as their own watchdogs, and are literally no bother, until the time comes to pluck them. To get the feathers off soap the feathers well, wrap them in a • sack for a while with hot water, and those feabhers’ll come out like peeling a hot potato. Easier in fact. People who don’t have a few geese are missing a bet. But never m try to stick your teeth into the old ones, your store teeth won’t stand it. Besides, geese are like _~ old other -things, '.they improve.. with age, the older birds are the heat breeders. „
FROGS LEGS—Lots of folks are frog-leg-shy, and they’re missing a great delicacy. Its not hard to raise enough frogs round the ponds or streams to have a mess of frogs legs now and then. They* are delicate as young chicken and to this taste better, though of course half of the food is the good v.: batter they are cooked in. There is a big old hull frog in a pond! outside my window, I’d never eat / him, he’s my pal and greets me when the light goes on, but I’ll eat all of his relatives.
MUSKRATS—I’ve heard some r say they’d never* leat the dirty things, they’re clean - in their habits and so delicious. In many* of the streams of this state the natives trap and eat ibhem. Along the shores of Lake St. Glair the natives trap and sell them at the open market in Detroit. Try muskrats, please, you’ll never regret ' it. r! - i-'v -y^'- ■ v ■
GROUND HOG —“Who ever heard of eating ground hog!” and the speaker will shudder attractively, if female, and like an idiot if its a man. They’re the cleanest eaters ever and something, in a stew or pot roast or something or other like that. They’re rich food, and tasty as all get-out, very fat, and the youngsters when they make their first trips abroad are something to set your teeth into. Try them by all means, you’ll be v delighted that you took this word of advice.
