With all this to-do over athletics in colleges—from West Point to William and Mary—it is time that we in Rappahannock take *‘fn'e off to be thankful that, so far, 'W^Kave""escapedrrfEe ’evIFor** -over-emphasis- on athletics in our high school. Our school is still in the hands of a group of conscientious educators who are interested in the physical and mental growth of the youngsters in the county.
We read of the evils in West Point with a sense of shock and shame. The great Academy had always stood for what was reported to be the pick of the nation, the finest of American boys were to be recommended to be educated at the taxpayer's expense.
